When people speak about ancient times, they basically envision uneducated people who gathered harvest and believed in evil spirits and curses. But those are stereotypes that live in our minds. For example, what do we know about ancient Egyptians, Greeks, or Romans? The Egyptian invented paper, mummified pharaohs, and they built mysterious pyramids — the secrets of which still haven’t been uncovered by the leading scientists of the world. Of course, all of this is extremely interesting, but there are many other, no less impressive, facts about Ancient Egypt. What’s more, Egyptians’ weekdays were much brighter and hectic than we can imagine. Did you know, for example, that the Egyptians were probably the first seafarers? They made ships out of reeds, wood, and papyrus. Or that the Greeks prized their dogs, and would do anything to protect them? They even invented that spiky dog collar everyone’s wearing these days. Or that the first university was in India almost 3,000 years ago. It had about 10,000 students and 60 different subjects. We decided to open up the curtains of history and found some really interesting facts about ancient people that you will neither read in history books nor see in Hollywood blockbusters. #brightside
