Some animals look so similar, like zebras, horses, and camels, for instance, they make us think they have a common ancestor. The way evolution works in nature is way more complex. Take, for instance, convergent evolution, which is when different creatures evolve independently from each other but end up having similar traits. At a first glance, sharks and dolphins look very similar: aquatic creatures, with some species having roughly the same size. But turns out they are mostly unrelated. #brightside Preview photo credit: Deinotherium bozasi: By Concavenator, CC BY-SA 4.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/deed.en, https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Deinotherium_bozasi_JG.png Credit: CC BY 3.0: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0: Georgiacetus: By Nobu Tamura, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=19459359 Kangaroo: By CSIRO, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=35458226 CC BY-SA 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/: Protome batalaria: By Smokeybjb, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=26958521 Joey: By Geoff Shaw, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=244336 Cyamodus: By Ghedoghedo, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=8241795 Deinotherium: By Dmitry Bogdanov, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=6632846 Two Paraceratherium: By ABelov2014, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=64955928 CC BY-SA 4.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0: Thylacosmilus: By Nobu Tamura, CC BY-SA 4.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=56114365 Deinotherium bozasi: By Concavenator, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=55067327 Paraceratherium: By Steveoc 86, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=68439605 Meganeuropsis: By Werner Kraus, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=113514565 Psephoderma: By Nobu Tamura, CC BY-SA 2.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=89359890 CC BY 2.5 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.5: By Nobu Tamura: Rutiodon: https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=19460383 Placochelys: https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=19461271 Animation is created by Bright Side. —————————————————————————————- Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com Check our Bright Side podcast on Spotify and leave a positive review! https://open.spotify.com/show/0hUkPxD34jRLrMrJux4VxV Subscribe to Bright Side: https://goo.gl/rQTJZz —————————————————————————————- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/brightside Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/brightside.official TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@brightside.official?lang=en Stock materials (photos, footages and other): https://www.depositphotos.com https://www.shutterstock.com https://www.eastnews.ru —————————————————————————————- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.brightside.me
