A colony on Mars sounds even more unrealistic right now. The distance from Earth to the Moon is about 239,000 miles, while it's at least 34 million miles between our planet and Mars. But asteroids are another story! Those asteroids that do approach Earth carry trillions of dollars worth of metals and minerals! And some of them come so close that experts believe asteroid mining missions can become a reality in the nearest future! But could we colonize asteroids?
