In 1953, astronomers spotted a puzzling light on the Moon. It turned out to be a naturally occurring spotlight caused by an impact on the lunar surface. When a space rock struck, it exposed a fresh layer of moon dust that reflected sunlight exceptionally well. Did you know that the Moon is Earth's closest celestial neighbor, about 238,855 miles away? The Moon doesn't have a breathable atmosphere, which means there's no air or weather like we have on Earth. Its gravity is only about 1/6th of Earth's, which makes astronauts appear to float when they're there.
