Have you ever wondered what those huge, round balls that are scattered around store entrances and parking lots are for? They're called concrete bollards and were initially made out of massive tree trunks to protect pedestrians from traffic. If you're trying to cut softer foods, like cheese, mousse, or cake but don't have a thin knife lying around the house, use a piece of floss. There are more simple but effective tips like this that will help you be productive and get the most out of everyday things. #brightside Animation is created by Bright Side.

For many years and even centuries, humans have been dreaming and working hard to finally make it to Mars, but it is definitely not the limit to what we can achieve. The next planet to visit could be Venus, although is very unfriendly to humans. Its atmospheric pressure is about 92 times as great as the pressure on Earth. Or we could go to Phobos and Deimos – those are Mars' moons. It would be the first time humans set foot on the moon of some other planet. #brightside Credit: Venuspioneeruv: By NASA, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=10914 Phobos: NASA/JPL-Caltech/University of Arizona, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=5191977 Europa Interior: By NASA/JPL, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=202658 Europa mosaic: By NASA/JPL-Caltech/SETI Institute, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=36913012 Rhea: By NASA/JPL/Space Science Institute, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=452540 Rhea-2: By NASA/JPL-Caltech/Space Science Institute, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=39702478 Rhea full: By NASA/JPL/Space Science Institute, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=3265597 Rhea-color: By US Government/NASA, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=40127628 Saturn System: By NASA, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=6448554 Black hole: By Dana Berry/NASA, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=27365379 CC BY 2.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0: Jupiter Portrait: By NASA Hubble – https://flic.kr/p/23sMBJc, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=87486830 Titan: By Kevin Gill – https://flic.kr/p/rAWHqq, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=80102435 CC BY-SA 4.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0: Callisto: By Pablo Carlos Budassi, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=94141827 cloud-covered: By Radialvelocity, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=34888900 CC BY 4.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0: Venus: By Vladapo165, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=90841391 Proxima Centauri b: By ESO/M. Titanic sank 110 years ago, but it continues to fascinate divers, scientists, and Titanic fans all around the world. In 1998, a diver known as Paul Henry Nargeolet located a strange blip near Titanic’s shipwreck. Using a sonar, he was receiving clear signals that something massive was sharing the floors of the Atlantic ocean near where the wreck was located. The mysterious blip remained unidentified until recently when a team of divers managed to locate the area where the blip originated from. To their surprise, it wasn’t another sunken ship, but something they didn't expect to find. #brightside Credit: CC BY 2.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0: Sonsub: By NOAA/OAR/OER. – https://flic.kr/p/9gpFty, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=17917507 Dr Robert Ballard: By Titanic Belfast – https://flic.kr/p/CLhVVn, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=85383233 Titanic watch: By Digiblue, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=18465481 James Cameron TED: By Steve Jurvetson – https://flic.kr/p/7D5xcV, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=9586827 model: By Les Chatfield – https://flic.kr/p/xj1w, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=91648288 CC BY-SA 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/: Chlamydoselachus anguineus: By Citron, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=11142485 Fenetretitanic: By Nebhotep, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=12162333 porthole: By User 699, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=33988403 Bestek titanic: By Looi, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=1761412 James Cameron: By Angela George, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=21956106 CC BY-SA 4.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0: Panorama TITANIC: By asisi F&E GmbH, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=60702832 Bansemer: By Roger L. Have you ever dreamt of visiting the Amazon forest? You'll get to see some unique birds and animals, like a family of pink dolphins and the broad-snouted caiman alligator. The so-called Goliath Birdeater is a monstrous spider whose legs can grow up to a foot in length. The so-called basilisk lizard is famous for its ability to walk on water. When the first people settled here remains a question. #brightside Credit: Socratea exorrhiza: Åsa Berndtsson, CC BY 2.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Socratea_exorrhiza_in_Costa_Rica.jpg CC BY-SA 2.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/: Anaconda: Fernando Flores – https://flic.kr/p/eGr6qi, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Anaconda_(Eunectes_murinus)_(8990193853).jpg Basiliscus basiliscus: Ryan Somma – https://flic.kr/p/5vMqnR, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Basiliscus_basiliscus_1.jpg Iriartea deltoidea: yakovlev.alexey – https://flic.kr/p/MMJLtM, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Iriartea_deltoidea_and_Socratea_exorrhiza_(Arecaceae)_%E2%80%94_two_%22walking_palms%22_(30053641211).jpg Basiliscus basiliscus: Minetti A, Ivanenko Y, Cappellini G, Dominici N, Lacquaniti F / "Humans Running in Place on Water at Simulated Reduced Gravity", CC BY 2.5 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.5/, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Basiliscus_basiliscus_running_on_water_-_pone.0037300.s001.ogv CC BY-SA 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/: Fremont Solstice Parade: Joe Mabel, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fremont_Solstice_Parade_2007_-_Ents_19.jpg Fazenda Colorada: Sanna Saunaluoma, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fazenda_Colorada.jpg CC BY-SA 4.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/: Botocinza: Gonçalo Jordão Piedade, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Botocinza.webm Display de boto vermelho: Naparmalandia, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Display_de_boto_vermelho.jpg Cyclosa octotuberculata: KKPCW, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Cyclosa_octotuberculata_in_the_forest_-_1.jpg Victoria Amazônica: Ingrid Ribeiro Escramozine Bello Pipa, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Victoria_Amaz%C3%B4nica.jpg Animation is created by Bright Side.

Mount Everest is the highest point on the planet, and not so many people have managed to climb it. The first duo to have gone down in the history books for reaching Everest's summit were Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay back in 1953. However, there is a tale of another team that could have reached it first almost 30 years earlier. If it's true, then the names of the first two climbers would have been George Mallory and Andrew Irvine. #brightside Credit: CC BY-SA 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/: Norgay and Hillary: By Jamling Tenzing Norgay, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=11252058 Tenzing and Hillary: By Dirk Pons, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=17234041 Animation is created by Bright Side.
