Since childhood, we’re curious about the world around us: we explore it, get to know it better, pay attention to the objects around us. With age our interest may become lower but it's still so great to find out if an ordinary object has been hiding some secret all this time. Most ordinary things hide a lot of surprises. If you love learning new things about the world around you, here's the right video! Why do mugs have those tiny grooves? How were pom-poms on our beanies created? Why do escalators have those brushes on the side? These and more question about everyday objects will be answered in this video… #brightside Preview photo credit: woman holding a cup of coffee: By Cherngchay Donkhuntod/Shutterstock.com, https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/woman-holding-cup-coffee-isolated-on-468588584 Animation is created by Bright Side. —————————————————————————————-

What Snapchat’s Logo Means + 15 Facts That You’ll Love to Know
Do you often use snapchat? Even if you don't, you've probably seen its icon many times: yellow and white colors and a cute creature. Why was this image chosen as the one to represent this social network? As you probably know, each social network icon has a story and a meaning. Every element of design matters and is meant to convey the idea of the platform. In this video I'm gonna reveal the idea behind Snapchat's logo. But first, take a look at it and try to guess yourself. Maybe the logo design is associated with the phantom nature of the pictures you send via this app: they appear and very quickly vanish? Or maybe they express the volatile character of photos taken in the app? No publication can be saved on the user's computer, so they disappear completely without leaving any traces… Here’re 15 facts you probably didn't hear before. #brightside TIMESTAMPS

Grapefruit Is the Largest Thing a Whale Can Swallow, Here’s Why
Animals do some pretty strange stuff: flamingos stand in the water on one leg, ostriches hide their heads in the sand… Or do they? There're a lot of false facts about animals and we're getting to the bottom of the common misconceptions in this video. I've googled popular animals myths to debunk them for you. Can blue whales swallow a car? What do you think is the largest thing a blue whale can swallow? We're talking about the biggest animal in the word to have ever lived on our planet. It can grow to up to 100 feet. So it's possible to imagine a blue whale swallowing something big like a car. But can it really? #brightside TIMESTAMPS

Moles 06:55
Animals hibernate 07:30
Earwigs 08:26 SUMMARY
– People would lay the cheese on the shelf, which was an easy target for all unwelcome pantry visitors like mice;
– Flamingos don't really stand in the water on one leg so they wouldn't get cold. This is just a simple way for them to spare the effort;
– Technically ostriches don't bury their head but put it near the ground. Otherwise, with its head in the sand, the poor thing wouldn't be able to breathe;
– The largest thing blue whale can actually swallow is a grapefruit. Its throat can take the size of a small salad plate;
– Camels can survive even when drinking water only every 8 to 10 days, but not because they have a secret stash on their back. It's because, when they have a chance to drink, they will swallow 50 gallons of water at one sitting;
– It's a myth that anteaters vacuum ants using their noses. Anteaters have very long tongues;
– Another misconception states that owls can spin their heads, neither more nor less than 360 degrees. Their head-spinning does have its limit – 270 degrees in one direction;
– If you touch a butterfly's wings, the animal won't lose its ability to fly. It will survive – despite the common myth that says the opposite. Butterfly's wings have scales;
– Wolves don't howl at the Moon. They typically howl at night, true, but because that's the period of time when they're most active;
– Giraffes sleep about 4 and a half hours daily. It's not that unusual for animal species that are most active during daylight;
– Many people believe moles are blind. These small, burrowing mammals actually CAN see. It's just their vision is really poor and only adapted to recognize the light;
– Chipmunks, bats, turtles, snakes – they all hibernate during the winter, which saves them energy for other seasons when they get more active and are capable of getting more food;
– Earwigs prefer to spend their time in dark, moist places such as under tree bark or in soil. If You Noticed 40 Small Details on Simple Objects, Call Yourself Unique
After we’ve been using something every day for many years, sometimes we find out that it has some other useful features. For example, did you know that the metallic zipper has a hidden lock inside? If you turn the zipper upwards, it gets locked, if you turn it downwards, you can open it easily. By the way, if you use an iPhone, you'll be surprised to find out that it also has a secret to share. The round hole on the back part between the flash and the camera serves as the second microphone. So it's not some random design feature… What about a bottle of sunflower oil? It's also not as simple of an object as it might seem… #brightside Animation is created by Bright Side.
