Why are your eyes crusty in the morning? Sometimes this crust is almost like water, but sometimes it’s thicker, so thick you can’t open your eyes properly. It’s a natural function in our eyes and this crust has a purpose. But at the same time, it may also signal a problem. We're also very curious as to why this thing appears in our eyes, so we found out why it happens every time we wake up from sleeping. We're gonna dig into this! By the way, there are a lot of interesting facts about eyes that you probably didn’t know! For example, eyes are the second most complex organ in your body, after your brain of course. They consist of over 2 million working parts, and they stay the same size once you’re a teenager. And our eyes are ready for action, almost all the time. They heal pretty quickly; it takes around 2 days to repair a minor scratch. Eyes can process 36,000 bits of information an hour. They can see millions of different colors! #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

Could We Survive Super Hot Days and Cold Nights?
Hey, welcome to Earth, 2050! You’re living in a world after the Great Temperature Shift of 2020. Days are as hot as they can be, and nights are just as cold. Humans have always depended on the environment, but now they’re more vulnerable than ever. They learned to deal with extreme cold and extreme heat. You don’t remember the world that used to be because you were born in the new climatic era. People don’t vacation to the beach anymore because the climate is pretty much the same everywhere. That, and you can’t fly anywhere. Air travel is a thing of the past since planes can’t take off in 100° weather. High heat means air is thinner, so the wings can’t produce lift. At least, that’s what your grandad told you – he was a pilot in the times before the Shift. Skiing, ice skating, and snowboarding are now done only at indoor artificial snow resorts. Skyscrapers are no more, and everything runs on solar power… #brightside We know how to lift your mood! Our App – https://bit.ly/3g9KM8j. —————————————————————————————-

What If You Woke Up Surrounded By Dinosaurs
Watch more videos in our new App: https://bit.ly/3g9KM8j Hey guys! Do you like time travel stories? An incredible one happened to me recently. I was sorting boxes in my grandpa's garage and came across an old calculator. I wanted to check if it was still working, so I gave it new batteries, pressed ON… and everything disappeared. It was so dark that I couldn't see anything around me. I had a slight feeling of being pushed somewhere. A moment later, I could see again. I wasn't in the garage anymore but standing in the middle of a narrow street. Walking around me were people dressed in kilt-like skirts and sandals. I looked around and, far away, I spotted a pyramid. Was it a Pyramid of Giza? Did that mean I was in Egypt? It seemed like the calculator was some sort of teleportation machine. But then another thought struck me: what if there was only one pyramid? There should have been three. This meant that the calculator didn't just teleport me through space, but through time, too. It was a time machine, and I was somewhere around 2550 B.C. when only one of Giza's great pyramids had been built! #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

US Shocked First Japanese Visitors, See Why
Watch more videos in our new App: https://bit.ly/3g9KM8j For more than 200 years, Japan was in isolation from the rest of the world. There was very little trade and other relations with different countries. No foreigners were allowed to visit it and no common Japanese person was allowed to travel abroad. The locals could only imagine what life was like out there. In 1854, the isolation was finally over. They started signing trade treaties with other countries. One of the first on the list was the United States of America. And because e-mails and e-signatures weren’t really available back then, a Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation was sent by ship in 1860. That was the first Japanese Embassy to the United States. The ambassadors left Yokohama for San Francisco by the end of January. It was a huge group of 96 people: the ambassador, vice-ambassador, several doctors, a couple of translators, barbers, cooks, servants, armorers, and samurai. One of them was Yukichi Fukuzawa who shared his impressions of the voyage and what they’d seen in America in his many books. #brightside Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

2020, The Year to Remember
This year has definitely not been the best we’ve ever had. It has tried our strength, our courage, our patience — we’ve had to give it our everything, expecting nothing in return but hope for better times. And yet, let’s not forget the good things 2020 has brought. Despite not being able to see our friends and sometimes even families in person, we’ve managed to stay in touch. And by keeping our distance, we’ve shown how much we care about our loved ones. It’s been hard to see our dear faces on cold screens, but all the sweeter the reunion will be after this is all in the past. #brightside Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

If Your Pet Does This, Big Trouble’s Coming!
Watch more videos in our new App: https://bit.ly/3g9KM8j It’d be cool to understand your pets’ language. Imagine you’re walking your dog and suddenly: hey, owner, look at that guy. I feel like he’s a bad person. Let’s go away. Woof! Or you leave the house, and your cat lying on the couch says: "buddy, take the umbrella. My tail tells me it’ll be raining!" In general, our pets could tell us a lot. That’s because they have a “superpower.” Their sense organs – eyes, ears, feet (or paws), and hair – are much more developed than those of people. Our pets get a bunch of information from the outside world. Pets can see and hear what you can’t. Animals also have super intuition. They can predict dangerous situations and, moreover, help their beloved person. But here’s the problem: they can’t speak the human language. So, behavior is their primary way to communicate. But how exactly do animals behave before, say, an earthquake or other natural disasters? There’s a whole science that studies animal behavior: zoopsychology. Let's find out more about it. #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

How You’d Look Living on Different Planets
Watch more videos in our new App: https://bit.ly/3g9KM8j Why do we look the way we look? Most of it’s down to our planet Earth, its atmosphere, gravity, that kind of stuff. When you go on a weeklong beach getaway, you get a tan. Basic. But what about living on a whole other planet? What would we look like if we lived on another planet of the Solar System? One astronaut spent a whole year living on the International Space Station. Zero gravity means no healthy pressure on your body, so his bones – got weaker. So did his muscles. It also gave him more space between his vertebrae, so he got a bit taller. And that’s only a year. The more time you spend at the beach, the darker your tan gets… so… What if we moved to Mars or Mercury? #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

She Survived 3 Ship Sinkings But It Didn’t Stop Her
Watch more videos in our new App: https://bit.ly/3g9KM8j People who've been in a shipwreck often remain afraid of water for the rest of their lives. But the woman whose story you’ll hear survived not one, and not even two, but three ship disasters, and continued to work on cruise liners as a stewardess. Her name's Violet Jessop – Miss Unsinkable! Her mother worked as a stewardess at sea and when she fell sick, young Violet followed in her footsteps. The first two years passed quietly. But then, a series of incredible fortunes began — or misfortunes, depending on how you looked at it. Violet got a job on the most luxurious liner of the time – the Royal Mail Ship Olympic. On September 20, 1911, Violet worked on the deck as usual. The sea was calm and nothing boded ill. The ship sailed through the Solent Strait, which separates the Isle of Wight from the British mainland. At this moment, the British military cruiser Hawke appeared ahead. It should’ve passed by the Olympic but something went wrong. The ships went straight at each other. The Olympic’s captain tried to maneuver to avoid a collision but failed. Luckily, both ships stayed afloat, and nobody got hurt. But in April 1912, Violet Jessop took a job on the best, unsinkable ship of the time – the Titanic. #brightside TIMESTAMPS:
