If You Touch This Bug, You’ll Get an Electric Shock!

Watch more videos in our new App: https://bit.ly/3g9KM8j We've posted a lot of videos about Japan: about the unusual habits of the local people, about Japanese food, and also about the things that amaze foreign tourists. But today, we'll tell you about critters that make Japan a bit terrifying place. Whether you’re living in Japan or just visiting, here are insects commonly found in Japan and how to react to them. Some of them are completely harmless, some of these Japanese bugs are poisonous. Imagine a sports car in insect form. It can run at over a foot per second when chasing its prey. But don’t be scared, you and your beloved pets are completely safe. House Centipede teeth are too small to bite humans or household pets. But this centipede has a big, scary brother – the Japanese giant centipede. This monster grows up to 1 foot long and it doesn’t only hunt small insects. This thing hunts scorpions, spiders, lizards…even mice and rats. They’ve even been known to attack bats and birds! #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

How Your Face Works in Stunning 3D Detail

Watch more videos in our new App: https://bit.ly/3g9KM8j Our face is part of the body that’s much more responsible for communication than any other. See for yourself: there are just four muscles in the face that have a utilitarian function, which is chewing, and over 20 muscles only needed to express emotions. Did you know, for example, that the muscles that allow you to frown in disdain, pulling the corners of your mouth down, are called the depressors? What a telling name that is! You might say the tongue is a muscle too, and you won’t be wrong, but it’s not so simple. The tongue actually consists of eight different muscles woven together. And the most amazing thing about it is that it never gets tired in your entire life. You always activate different parts of the tongue, and they simply have no time to be tired. But until you think of it, you won’t notice one thing: your tongue actually doesn’t have a comfortable relaxed position in your mouth. It’s constantly moving, and when it’s not, you probably press it towards your palate. But enough tongue wagging, let’s find out more about facial anatomy! #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

A New Ocean Is Forming Under Your Feet Right Now

Watch more videos in our new App: https://bit.ly/3g9KM8j Normally, our lifetime is too short to see any major changes. We don’t notice mountains rise, the way rivers change their course, or how oceans are created. Entire valleys may be sinking, but it usually takes too long for them to sink entirely. Still, a group of scientists recently noticed there’s a new ocean being formed really fast and we can even witness it appear. Not far away from the Horn of Africa peninsula, the sixth ocean is being born at the moment! By the way, there's a theory that claims the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans might just cease to exist, forming the new ocean basin. Eurasia will be split to form a new ocean, and all the continents will migrate to merge into the supercontinent. Another possible scenario claims the continents might merge into the uniform landmass, or form a circle with a large sea inside, and the Super Pacific Ocean outside. And since all the continents keep drifting northwards even now, it’s quite probable that almost all of them will meet up somewhere at the North Pole. So, here's how the Earth might change in millions of years. #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

6 Nightmarish Creatures Control Animals Like Puppets

Watch more videos in our new App: https://bit.ly/3g9KM8j Hey guys! Do you love cool facts about nature and animals? But have you ever heard of the zombie-making fungus? Well, there's a mushroom that has the most bizarre ability to grow inside insects' bodies. Its spores attack an insect (an ant, for example), replace the host's tissue with its own, and then it shoots stems that grow outside of the body. In other words, it takes over ants’ bodies to control their minds? But how exactly does it work? A minuscule, almost invisible fungal spore flutters through the air and lands on the back of an ant. Its body’s covered in armor that protects it from any danger. But the spore attaches itself and creeps between the shield plates. Of course, the unlucky insect doesn't suspect anything and goes home. Few days pass, the ant still feels fine, but the spore inside its body is growing. A week after the infection, the ant begins to behave strangely. It doesn't sleep well, doesn't work hard. And one day, it leaves the colony unnoticed… #brightside Preview photo credit:

Their Ship Split in Half, the Crew Had Only One Choice

Watch more videos in our new App: https://bit.ly/3g9KM8j The SS Pendleton was built in 1944 in Portland, Oregon. The oil tanker was more than 500 ft long and could reach the speed of 18 miles per hour. The first unlucky accident happened to the ship in July 1951. That's when the Pendleton ran aground while traveling along the Hudson River in New York. There wasn't too much fuss about this misadventure. The vessel was refloated the next day. No one knew at that time that the damaged part of the ship's hull would play a crucial role in its tragic sinking. In February of 1952, the SS Pendleton was moving through the blinding snow and raging waves. The tanker was heading south toward Cape Cod. Around 10 miles off the coast, the crew heard a terrifying cracking noise. Suddenly, the ship lurched and broke in two! Despite the dangers that come with seafaring people have always been drawn to the ocean. And if you love shipwreck survival stories, this one will amaze you. The sailors were rescued by members of the Coast Guard on a small lifeboat! #brightside Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

Something Living Hides in Every Pearl, See What

Watch more videos in our new App: https://bit.ly/3g9KM8j How do oysters make pearls? There are only 5 common types of oysters, but they actually come in 150 varieties! The largest oyster in the world is called the Pinctada maxima, and it’s as big as your dinner plate! There are around 7 types of oysters that produce pearls, and each of them gives different colors, shapes, and sizes to their treasures. The ones people eat belong to a different family than shiny pearl oysters. Oysters in freshwater can make a pearl in 1 – 6 years. If they live in saltwater, it takes them 5 to 20 years, almost as long as their lifespan! So how are pearls produced? Well, two ways: the natural route and the cultured one. Natural pearls are very rare to find, and that makes them a lot more expensive. By the way, oysters are really good at filtering water! But don’t try to use them as your kitchen water cleaner, that's not how this works. Okay, here are some interesting facts about oysters that may surprise you. #brightside Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz
