They Released 1.5 Million Balloons Never Expecting It’d End Terribly

What happens when a helium-filled balloon is released and rises into the atmosphere? How long does a balloon last in the sky? Well, let’s see. As it gets higher, the temperature and pressure around the balloon begin to fall. But the pressure inside stays the same, which makes the balloon constantly expand. It travels upwards for about an hour and a half, and reaches a height of about 28,000 feet, or 5 miles. That’s only a little less than the altitude that planes fly at. That’s when it goes pop, and the little pieces fall all the way back to the ground. The Balloonfest ’86 was a fundraising event that took place in the city of Cleveland, Ohio. The goal was to set a new world record by releasing a huge number of balloons into the air. They wanted to release 2 million of them, and it took 6 months to organize. Just as it started to rain in the early afternoon, the balloons were released into the grey sky, setting a new world record. The colorful cloud filled the square. But as the rain became heavier, the balloons were pushed back down. The storm carried them back to the city… #brightside Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

Which Animal Can Run the Farthest Without Stopping

Everybody knows that the Cheetah is the fastest animal in the world. But in the ultimate test of speed vs. endurance, it immediately takes the lead. The cheetah reaches highway speeds in only 3 seconds, but after just 20 seconds – covering a distance of 7 football fields in that time! – it can’t keep going. Lions are built for short bursts of speed, either. They hunt by sprinting to their prey and pouncing on it with leaps of up to 36 feet, almost as long as a semi! More than a few seconds, though, and their muscles tire out… So which animal has the most endurance? The human takes the lead! Speed is for the animal kingdom. We were built for long-distance running, and we top them all! The best we’ve got in that department is a man named Dean Karnazes, who jogged 350 miles across Northern California without stopping for…80 hours and 44 minutes! That’s over 3 days of non-stop running! Learn more interesting facts about animals with the video! #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

How High You Could Jump on Different Planets

Gravity is what keeps your feet firmly planted on the ground. That’s why the average person can only jump as high as 1.5 feet straight up. But what if we had to live on another planet — say, Venus or Saturn? Let’s find out what difficulties we’d have to endure there. How high could you jump on other planets? The gravity on Mercury, for example, is less than half that on Earth, so you’ll be able to jump about 4 ft high. But if you were to jump being on Venus, you’d make it just shy of 1.7 ft high because the mass and size of Earth and Venus are almost similar with Venus being a little smaller. Bu the way, guys, did you know that Venus is a really inhospitable place? You’d be able to see Earth from here if not for the whirling mass of clouds above. They create a monstrous greenhouse effect, as well as immense atmospheric pressure. And despite the constant temperature of a blazing furnace, rain here wouldn’t bring relief: the clouds up there are made of sulfuric acid! Let's learn more about these amazing objects that orbit the same sun as Earth! Here are some surprising facts about the planets of the Solar System. #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

They Survived Falling from a Plane But That Was Only the Beginning

Hey, no matter what – you should never lose hope. There are plenty of stories that prove this. Like the ones about young women who survived falls from incredible heights during plane crashes. Stories showing that the human spirit and willpower are invincible. Stories proving that miracles are real. Amazing survival stories. Vesna Vulovic survived a fall from a record altitude of 33,000 feet. That’s higher than Everest. In a fall from this height, a person can reach 260 mph. That’s about as fast as the best racing cars in the world. You’d think nobody could still be alive after that, but Vesna Vulovic was, and here’s how it happened. #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

What If the Planets Became Our Moon

What if the Moon was replaced with any other planet from the Solar System? The Moon is the Earth's closest space neighbor and its only natural satellite. It likely formed when a huge, Mars-sized object crashed into our planet billions of years ago. This catastrophe turned Earth into a scorching ball of molten rock. It also pushed some material into its orbit, creating the Moon. Now, this heavily cratered sphere moves around our planet. This causes high and low tides around the globe. A bit more than one-fourth the size of Earth, it's the fifth-largest natural satellite in the Solar System. Whatever the satellite looks like, you can always find it in the night sky and sometimes, even during the day. But imagine waking up at night and noticing that the Moon looks somewhat different than usual… #brightside TIMESTAMPS:
