Natural Disasters That Keep Happening Around the World

Every year natural disasters occur all over our planet: volcanos erupt, fierce tornados destroy entire cities, and there are millions of earthquakes. A natural disaster is a frightening and incredible phenomenon. And after a storm, people usually face severe consequences. For example, have you ever heard of hurricane Allen? Rare and extremely powerful, the storm is one of the few to reach Category 5 – the highest possible. It caused more than $2 billion in damage! Or take Hurricane Dorian. It's the most powerful tropical cyclone to hit the Bahamas. The hurricane flattened most of the structures on the islands and sweeps them into the sea. So yes, there is no bigger force than nature. One of the largest tsunami waves ever recorded broke in 1958. A tsunami with a record run-up height of 1700 feet (518 m) occurred in Lituya Bay, Alaska. A landslide, caused by an earthquake, created a mega wave. It surged over the headland and washed away trees, plants, and soil down to bedrock. Let's find out what created the biggest waves in recorded history. #brightside Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

What Will Happen If a Spider Bites You

You probably don't need to worry too much about a regular spider bite unless you have an allergy. But a venomous spider is a different story. Allergic reactions from them are more severe. Venomous spiders are easy to identify by their pattern. For instance, a black body with red "hourglass" coloration on the underside of its abdomen signifies a black widow. And the venom of a black widow spider causes immediate pain at the bite site and then spreads to other areas of the body. The black widow is one of the most venomous spiders in the world. Poison 15 times more potent than a rattlesnake’s! They won’t touch you if you don’t touch them – that’s why they prefer quiet, undisturbed areas like attics and sheds. But if they feel threatened – or worse, she’s got eggs to protect! – this normally shy 8-legged introvert will come for you! So what happens to your body when a spider bites you? And what to do about a spider bite? #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

Survivor Says Something New About the Bermuda Triangle Mystery

Why do ships and planes vanish without a trace in the Bermuda Triangle? If you draw up a map, trace a line connecting the island of Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Miami, and back to Bermuda, what do you get? Yes, it’s a triangle – a sinister polygon known for mysteriously swallowing over 2,000 ships and 200 aircraft over centuries! And here's a story about the Bermuda Triangle you probably didn’t hear about. So, the airplane involved was a Beechcraft Bonanza single-engine aircraft. Onboard, pilot Bruce Gernon had two passengers: his father and business partner. They took off from Andros Island in the Bahamas and headed northwest for the Florida coast. It was December 4, 1970. This was a typical flight Bruce had made dozens of times before! But this time would be different. They would face really unexplainable and maybe even mysterious things… #brightside Preview photo credit: Lancaster, USA – March 24, 2018, Beechcraft F33C Bonanza on display during Los Angeles County Air Show at William J. Why Hygiene Has Changed Over the Decades (People Washed Only One Body Part!)

Time traveler, stock your backpack with your favorite hygiene essentials because we’re living in the best time ever for cleanliness! Don’t forget your toothpaste! Some ancient civilizations used a mixture of gum Arabic and soot to keep their teeth clean. That, or a mix of the salt, mint, iris flower, and pepper. One dentist tried this combo to see how it works. Let’s just say, didn’t feel good on the gums! About 5,000 years ago, people in Egypt and Greece would fray a small twig to clean in between their teeth. A few centuries later, soap appeared! It was a mix of boiled fat and ash. In such hot climates, people would wash their bodies up to 4 times a day, using soda ash to get rid of dirt. And Romans are better known for their public restrooms. To make “clean-up” easier, the Romans would fix a sponge at the end of a stick. By the way, they'd share that thing amongst themselves! Let's find out more about what hygiene was like in the past. How did the ancients clean themselves? #brightside CC BY-SA 4.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0:

80+ Body Facts I Heard For The First Time

Would you agree that human bodies are perfect works of art? Really, few things are as complex and interesting as our own bodies! Thousands of years of evolution have served to make us one of the marvels of nature. And yet, we know so little about ourselves: what makes us who we are?
For example, did you know that every month our skin regenerates completely? Which means that throughout life each of us sheds about 1,000 skins! Or that our brains are 80% water. That's why it's so important to stay hydrated and drink water.

If Earth and Saturn Crossed Paths, Which Planet Would Win?

This planet's called "The Jewel of the Solar System." Made up mostly of gases, it could float on water – should you find a reservoir 75,000 miles across and just as deep. But what makes the planet so recognizable is its beautiful rings – gray, tan, and beige. They consist of dust, rocks, and ice. Some bits are as tiny as grains of sand, others – as large as skyscrapers. It's Saturn, and right now, Earth is hurtling toward it at breakneck speed. So what would happen if Saturn hit Earth? What happens when planets collide? Okay, let's imagine that all of a sudden, Earth changed the course it had been following for several billion years. But instead of rushing toward the Sun, it started to move away from the star. On second thoughts, it might be for the better – we've got more time to find a solution. Earth used to move around the Sun at a speed of 67,000 miles per hour. For some mysterious reason, when it left its orbit, the speed remained the same. It means we're going to cover 746 million miles separating our planet from Saturn within a year and three months… Here's another what-if video for space lovers! #brightside Credit:
