All the Most Popular Fictional Buildings Compared

The sky's the limit when you're creating fictional buildings. So how about seeing how huge they can get? For example, the height of the Simpsons' House is 24 ft (7.5 m). The height of Cinderella's castle is 190 ft (58 m). Or have you ever wondered how tall Hogwarts Castle, Avengers Tower, or the Wall from "Game of Thrones" are? By the way, did you know that Hogwarts is the 36th best school in Scotland? At least, that's what the 2008 Independent Schools Network Ranking states. Hogwarts was added to the list for fun, but, in the end, it outranked one of the oldest boarding schools in Scotland – Edinburgh's Loretto School. Anyway, what are the biggest fantasy castles and fictional skyscrapers? In our height measurement, we've gathered the tallest fictional buildings and decided to find out how they compare to each other. #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

What Would Happen If the Titanic Met the Kraken Not an Iceberg?

How large was the iceberg that sank the Titanic? Months before the disaster struck, a ginormous chunk of ice had broken away from a glacier in southwest Greenland. It was made of the snow that had fallen about 100,000 years ago – when mammoths were still roaming the planet. And when the iceberg just started its journey, it was a huge thing. Almost 1,700 ft (518 m) long, it also weighed 75 million tons! Even after melting into the water for months, the iceberg still weighed an impressive one and a half million tons. Its top part was towering over the water for almost 100 ft (30m). But what people saw was just a tiny part of a jumbo piece of ice. The largest part of any iceberg is hidden under the surface, with a mere one-tenth visible above the water. "The Titanic iceberg" wasn't an exception. The moment the ship collided with it, the vessel was doomed. But what if what we know about the disaster is not true? What if it had been the Kraken that sank the Titanic? A legendary creature feared by everyone who sets off on a sea voyage… #brightside Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

10+ Charging Tricks To Make Your Phone Work Without Flaws

You’d never know it, but the way you charge your phone can be crucial for not only your electricity bills and safety, but also the lifespan of its battery. The phone batteries used today are based on a precise number of charge cycles and to make them last longer, it is advised to never charge them to 100% or drain them to 0%. If, for some reason, you wanna discontinue your phone use for some time, charge it to 50% and turn it off. This percentage is said to be the healthiest for a lithium-ion battery. 19-Year-Old Teacher Saved 13 Students From Disaster by Tying Them with a Rope

January 12, 1888, was an unusually warm day in the US plains states. Sometime around noon, the temperatures got so high that snow and ice started to melt. People were wandering outside, pleased and surprised by the unusual phenomenon. But everything changed in a matter of minutes. A dark, heavy wall came from the northwest. The hurricane-force winds were bitterly cold. The snow – sharp and stinging. Within a few hours, the temperature dropped from 30˚F to -20˚F. In some places, the temperature fell to a bone-chilling -40˚F! It was impossible to see anything further than 3 steps away from the door. What made the storm so lethal was its suddenness, the short spell of exceptionally warm weather before, and its timing – during school and work hours. This was one of the worst natural disasters in history and it got the name "The Schoolhouse Blizzard" or "The Children's Blizzard" because most of the lost people were kids… #brightside Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

4 Isolated Islands That Are Probably Smaller Than Your House

From a distance, Migingo Island looks like a desolate rocky chunk on Lake Victoria. But zoom in closer, a little more, and you’ll see that grey color isn’t rocks – it’s rooftops! 131 people live on this ½-acre piece of land. Doesn’t sound like much of a crowd – after all, they’d all fit into one modestly sized movie theater auditorium! But the compactness more than doubles the most densely populated city in the world: Mumbai, India. Most of the island is covered with rocks. There’s barely any vegetation growing there, save for a tiny patch of green grass with a couple small trees growing on it. Locals make 3 times what they would on the mainland but most of the buildings are made from steel sheets. Let's find out more about one of the strangest places on Earth. By the way, it's not the smallest inhabited island in the world. #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

What If You Were Born with a Tail

Why do animals have tails? Millions of years ago, lots of animals used their tails to help them swim. When some of them left the water behind, their tails changed or disappeared completely. Imagine you live in a world where this last part didn't happen, and everyone has tails – including people. This gives them special abilities. So what if you had an animal tail? Our pets use their tails to communicate. They can reveal a lot about the emotions a dog or cat is experiencing. In the same way, these human tails would show how people feel. Those specialists who can read facial expressions to see if someone is telling the truth would have also learned to read tail movements. This also would make it extra hard to play poker. Your wagging tail would let everyone at the table know when you have a good hand! #brightside Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz
