60+ Mind-Blowing Space Facts That Might Scare You And Amaze at the Same Time

We think we know everything about the place we live in: we might know our neighbors, the owner of the closest supermarket, the guy who always walks his dog in the nearest park. How about the bigger place we live in – our planet Earth, or even bigger – our Galaxy? Do you know what's going on right above our heads, in outer Space? Some of the object in Space constantly bump into each other, like meteors and planets, or comets and stars, or even two black holes. Black holes collisions are so powerful that they send gravitational waves all across cosmos. Some of the fine-tuned detectors here on Earth even allow us to hear the sound from those collisions. I wonder, what it sounds like!

Why Smartphones Become Bigger If We Can Make Them Smaller

When cell phones first appeared, they were really bulky and expensive. These early phones consumed lots of power, so they needed really big batteries to run. Plus, electronic components were also pretty large in those days. Besides their brick-like bodies, they also had long external antennas to reach the cell network. But as time passed, electronic parts became smaller, and battery capacity increased enormously. Internal antennas appeared, and phones became thin and light as the overall technology improved. A 3.5-inch screen seemed okay to most people, and we thought it would stay that size forever. But nowadays it’s hard to find a smartphone that has a screen smaller than 5 and a half inches. Modern smartphones just keep getting bigger. So why are we now using smartphones that resemble tablets, if we already know the ways to make them smaller? #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

Two Brothers Made the World Believe in Bigfoot

Jerry Crew has been working for the Wallace Brothers’ logging company for two years, and this was a perfectly normal day for him. It was August 1958 in Northern California. Jerry came to the construction site, where about 30 other crewmembers were already on the job. As he was walking toward his bulldozer, he noticed strange footprints on the ground. Jerry realized that something massive lives in these woods… So, is Bigfoot real? #brightside Preview photo credit: The legend of Bigfoot: By ASSOCIATED PRESS/East News, https://www.eastnews.ru/pictures/result?phrase=EN_00946470_1394&news-pic=1&pic-catId=0&fromMadeDate=&toMadeDate=&stock-pic=1&pic-agencyId=0&search-way=keywords

Put the Seat Down When You Flush, Here’s Why

You’re at home, scrolling through the feed, watching some videos, when the power suddenly goes out! No big deal, the phone’s still working until the battery runs out. But sooner or later, you’ll wonder… why won’t the toilet flush with the electricity out? It’s not like commodes are plugged into an outlet right there in the bathroom wall. When you push the flush handle, a large flow of water rushes from the tank into the bowl. It works just by the force of gravity if your house has a gravity-fed waste removal system. While gravity is always at our service (unless your toilet’s in space), there’s one problem with no power: the tank doesn’t get filled! Actually, the way your plumbing works depends on your water source and where you live. For example, the plumbing system in high-rises is so complicated, there are even legends about it. One of them says, if all the toilets were flushed at the same time, it could take down the building! Let's figure out how a toilet works and what kind of toilet myths there are. #brightside EPISODES:
