7 Natural Disasters That Might Happen in the Next Years

It happened 74,000 years ago, and it was one of the Earth’s largest explosive eruptions. It caused a global winter that lasted for years. Volcanic gases were ejected into both hemispheres and moved all around the planet. The eruption created the famous Lake Toba, which covers an area of 436 square miles. The Toba volcano is still active, and if a similar eruption happens again, it will directly affect both Indonesia and Malaysia. But Toba could also pump out enough gas to affect the whole world’s climate. There is no bigger force than nature. Every year natural disasters occur all over our planet. Despite the fact that we can fly into space, we still can't withstand the forces of nature. Let's find out which natural disasters are possible in the future. From bad solar storms to global earthquakes and meteor strikes, these catastrophic events might threaten the world in the near future and affect millions of people. #brightside EPISODES:

When Animal Babies Become Independent: Comparison

We all start out as helpless little things and grow into big wise independent adults. But some animals come into this world more self-sufficient than others. For example, a newborn lamb weighs as much as a milk jug. They’re ready to start their own independent life after just 2 months. Zebra calves can stand up on their own after 10-20 minutes. And an hour later, they can run! Most polar bear cubs stay with their mom for a couple of years. Human babies, however, are a different story. In the very early days of a baby’s life, they can’t lift their heads at all. They average 7 lb, and statistics show most people move out of their parents’ house at 19 years! So how does our human development compare to the animal kingdom? Is this true that human babies are the most helpless? And who has the biggest babies, by the way (it’s not blue whales!). Let’s find out! Check out another compilation of interesting facts about animals! #brightside Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

Something Huge Is Hidden Beneath the Sahara Desert

Hey guys! If you like to learn new things about ancient people, prehistoric times, and anything connected with Earth's climate in the past, check this out. In 2010, fossilized fish was uncovered 250 miles west of the Nile river, where the Sahara Desert was as arid as ever. This chance finding led scientists to believe there could’ve been sea where the Sahara is now, so they conducted a geological survey of the area. And it yielded unexpected results: they found evidence of something huge under the sands, and it wasn’t part of any sea at all. For several months, the research continued with GPS equipment on land, and later, when all the ground data was collected, scientists took a look at the area from a satellite. The view was astounding! Actually, in this area, ancient human settlements had been found previously, and now the researchers finally had the answer as to why exactly they had chosen those spots to live. By the way, did you know that whales had once been land animals that evolved into marine ones? We’ll talk about that too! #brightside Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

A Town That’s Been on Fire for 60 Years

So, we keep telling you about the most unusual places in the world. The coal mines of Centralia, Pennsylvania is really one of the strangest towns on Earth. It was based on coal in all senses: it stood on a coal mine. People dwelling there were happy, and nothing seemed to disturb their peace. They had a good job in the stable coal industry that was powerful enough to overcome even serious economic disasters. The flourishing industrial town had only one, but quite an acute problem. There was way too much garbage, and its quantity would grow at breakneck speed, spreading bad smell and attracting rats. In May 1962 authorities decided to get rid of all trash by simply burning it to ashes. They were sure this method could make their hometown clean again. One thing they couldn’t foresee: the fire burned on the surface yes, but beneath it too… #brightside Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

Most Mysterious Sea Creatures Ever Existed (Not All Sharks Bite!)

Have you ever gone surfing or scuba diving and thought "what if someone's gonna bite me in the water"? Yeah, we all have that fear of dangerous sea creatures. Poisonous jellyfish, venomous sea snakes, toothy barracudas and sharks. Who isn't afraid of shark? But are all sharks that dangerous? We all remember such movies like "Jaws" or "Deep Blue Sea", so there's a cultural myth that all sharks are equally threatening to humans. In fact, there're some species that present no risk at all. For example, whale sharks. Even though they're the biggest in the ocean, they just eat zooplankton and present no threat at all.  Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

Only One Person Lives in This Town for 16 Years

A town is a bit like a living thing, with various essential organs each doing their crucial job. It takes a lot of effort, as well as people, to maintain any town. Without these things, it could disappear. Imagine you’re the only person living in a town. To keep things running, you would have to deal with lots of routine stuff you might not have ever thought about before. Things like money, and admin duties, and lots of other complicated things you’re not used to doing. If that sounds difficult, there are actually real places just like this. 86-year-old Elsie Eiler is the only resident in the town of Monowi, Nebraska. This makes Monowi the USA’s smallest town in population terms. It was founded in 1902 when a crucial railroad finally reached the area. The population peaked in the 1930s with 150 residents. At the time, it had several grocery stores, a restaurant, and a few other services. A rusty, decaying shed now hidden among the trees used to be the town’s jail. Let's find out more about one of the strangest places in the world. #brightside EPISODES:
