45 Facts About the Planets More Surprising than Sci-Fi

What's happening right above our heads, in Space? Space is a vacuum, which means it contains almost nothing, but it's not completely empty. It's where all of the asteroids, comets, planets, stars and galaxies are found. And they're so remote and mesmerizing at the same time. What do we know about them? For example, did you know that Venus has shield volcanoes, widespread lava flows and some unusual volcanoes called pancake domes which are not present on Earth?! Also it rains sulphuric acid on Venus, while on Jupiter one can witness diamond rains! What a precious planet! Preview photo credit:

Astronomers Saw a Signal of Life on Venus in Its Clouds

Venus has more volcanoes than any other planet in the Solar System – more than 1,600! An extreme greenhouse effect warms the planet's surface up to 870˚F – hot enough to melt lead. Winds there reach the speed of 450 miles per hour in the middle cloud layer — faster than the speediest tornadoes on our planet. The pressure on Venus’s surface is 90 times higher than that at sea level on Earth. And recently, this incredible place has become even more intriguing. In the toxic Venusian atmosphere, there's something that might mean the existence of life! In 2017, a group of scientists from Cardiff University started to use the James Clerk Maxwell radio telescope in Hawaii. The main idea was to search for phosphine gas – it would be a sign of life on Venus. When the data came back, and the researchers analyzed it, they were shocked and even checked the results several times! So if you've always wondered if there's life on other planets, check this out. #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

What If Gravity Disappeared for 1 Second

What happens if gravity disappear for only one second? Let’s recap the events from the smallest to the largest scale. Well, if gravity is lost for a single second, unfortunately, you’ll most probably be no more. Thing is, gravity doesn’t only keep you anchored to the Earth — it also holds all the atoms inside your body together. If this force completely disappears even for such a short period of time, chances are you’ll simply fly apart! By the way, you surely know our planet is spinning and hurtling through space at mind-blowing speeds, so there’s a chance that, if gravity does turn off for a second, everything on the Earth’s surface will succumb to inertia and fly horizontally at several hundred miles per hour. Yet the real trouble starts if the gravity disappears for the entire planet… Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

18 Titanic Questions That Are Still Not Answered

Everyone knows about this tragedy: how RMS Titanic sank in the early morning of 15 April 1912 in the North Atlantic Ocean. We watched the movie, we heard about it. However, many questions still remain without answers. One of them: did the unsinkable ship really hit an iceberg? Because there were survivors of the tragedy who had other versions. The Titanic was the largest ship afloat at that time. But its size wasn't the only appeal. The interiors of the Titanic were truly jaw-dropping. The grand staircase in the first class was one of the most lavish at sea and featured a wrought-iron and glass-domes roof and oak panelling. Doesn't that sound impressive? Let's unveil some of the Titanic's secrets together.  Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz
