How many hours does the average person sleep? We spend about one-third of our lives in bed. That’s around 33 years. But only 26 of them will be taken up by precious beauty sleep. The other 7 are spent on just trying to get to sleep. That’s not surprising considering nearly half of all people have sleeping problems. So, yes, you spend really big part of your life sleeping. But have you ever wondered how it compares to working, relaxing, or watching movies? We decided to figure out how much time we spend doing things in a lifetime. Did you know, for example, that you’ll probably spend nearly an entire year of your life just looking for your keys or glasses? Or that we spend more than 90% of our lives indoors? But I guess this could be good news for anyone who likes their home comforts. And while true love may last a lifetime, we only spend about a year of our lives doing romantic things! #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

How many hours a day do we spend staring at the screens of our laptops and smartphones? Yes, countless hours! That's why we eventually notice our vision change and get much worse. We replace glasses and contact lenses to get sharper vision, but this process seems to have no end. However, we can do something to improve our eyesight even now! First of all, we should start with changing our lifestyle. Pay attention to what we eat, when we exercise, how many hours a day we sleep, if we sometimes fall asleep in contact lenses – we should stop it immediately! Also, eye exercises are really helpful. Your eyes have muscles and they can get sore when held in one position for too long, just like any other muscle in our body. Give your muscles a break and you'll be grateful over the years.

Once, Adam agreed to take part in a popular TV show. He had to crack logic puzzles and solve detective riddles to get $1 million! If only he knew at that moment where this decision would lead him! When the guy arrived at the venue, a staff member put a blindfold over his eyes. After that, Adam was taken someplace and left alone. After waiting in silence for a couple of minutes, the guy pulls the blindfold off. He's in a rather large room. There's nothing there except for 4 doors. The guy feels something's wrong, but he can't grasp what exactly. And suddenly, he realizes – the ceiling is going down! He needs to get out of the room and fast! He examines the doors more closely. They all have notes that describe what's behind each of them. Adam knows he needs to decide fast. Let's help him solve all these tricky riddles? C'mon! That's gonna be fun! #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

A wall of water falling on land and flowing forwards in a quick and powerful mass of streams, eroding the ground and demolishing all structures it meets on its way, leaving nothing behind. It could’ve been a depiction of a tsunami, but it’s a human-made cataclysm: a dam failure. The earliest known disaster of this kind happened almost 1,500 years ago in the Arabian Peninsula, in the ancient kingdom of Saba. Today, a new dam stands in place of the historical one, built in 1980 and functioning well. A dam can be natural too, though, and when such a thing bursts, nothing good comes of it either. In Sweden, there once was a meltwater lake formed because of glacial debris blocking the course of a river. In 1794, locals received permission to dig a bypass canal to change the course of the river and safely transport logs through it. The work was finished despite many troubles, and the water began to flow… So what happens when dams fail? And what are the biggest dam failures of all time? #brightside TIMESTAMPS:

Which creatures living in the ocean are the biggest? Do we know them well? Everyone's talking about the Meg saying it's the biggest shark ever. but the question is: is it that big? Or there're other inhabitants of the ocean depth way bigger? Spoiler: there are! It might be difficult to imagine but Megalodon could grow to a maximum total length of about 15 to 18 meters. Comparatively, the great white shark typically measures more than 6 meters in length. Also, according to researchers, megalodon could be counter-shaded to better blend into its surroundings fro both above and below when on the hunt. Our planet is full of scary events, phenomena, and natural disasters that change the face of Earth every day. Tornadoes, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, floods, tsunamis, fires… And then, just when you think you've seen it all, nature presents you with another startling phenomenon. Rocks rolling down the slopes of a rumbling volcano, pushing other, bigger rocks on their way, and eventually tumbling down into the ocean in a humongous cascade, causing a wave the height of which the world’s never seen before. This is what might happen if the Hilina Slump of the Hawaiian Big Island falls off into the water. Or imagine an eruption spewing tons of huge rocks and rivers of hot lava, pumping out clouds of ash that make countries stop air travel for weeks. And now multiply all this by a thousand. This is what a Yellowstone eruption would look like. Yes, Yellowstone is, first and foremost, an enormous caldera — basically, a slumbering supervolcano! And if dinosaurs could talk (and were at least still alive, for that matter), they’d tell you that asteroid threat is as real as it gets… Let's find out what naural disasters could happen any moment and affect millions. #brightside TIMESTAMPS:
