What to Do the Week Before Back to School

Well, summer break is over. Not exactly fun to think about… But a new school year means a brand-new start, right? This could be your year! It might seem scary – especially if you’re starting junior high or high school– so make sure to start your first day off right by doing some prep the day and night before! First and foremost: get plenty of rest and a good night’s sleep! Hopefully, you’ve already started to try and get back into the school wake-up routine: going to bed at a decent time and getting up early, so that your body is used to it. If you get into your routine early on, waking up for school on your first day won’t be so hard! If can’t stop thinking about what the morning will bring, just remember that everyone else is just as nervous or excited as you are! Other videos you might like:

– Make sure that you’re up early enough to allow time for the things you need to do, so you won’t feel so rushed. Feeling rushed is stressful, and it could make you forget something important.
– If you plan on packing your lunch, do this the night before as well, so that you don’t have to worry about it in the morning. – A good tip for the day before the first day of school is to do a light workout; you’ll work off some stress and sleep better! – Think of the perfect back to school outfit. What’s your style, and what makes you feel the most confident and the most you? – If you can, get a new haircut before the first day of school! A new hairstyle will make you feel extra polished for your first day.
– Get your folders and notebooks for each class organized with any initial guides or paperwork your teachers may have sent you. – Another great thing to stock up on and keep in your schoolbag is gum and mints! You never want to feel like you might have stinky breath in the morning or after lunch while talking to someone.
– If you’re driving, see if you and some friends can arrange to carpool, and decide on pick-up times and meeting places. If you’re walking to school, walk with some friends who live nearby.
– Make some calls a day or two before the first day of school and make these arrangements; you’ll feel much more relaxed if you’re with some friendly and familiar faces while getting to school.
– It might be super boring, but fill out any paperwork that’s required for the first day of school the night before.
– Most of all, the night before your first day of school, try to relax. Watch your favorite funny TV show or movie. Read a good book. Take deep breaths. Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

11 Technologies from the Past Better Than Modern Ones

Modern technologies are more advanced than what people used in the past, aren’t they? They didn’t have lasers that cut through metal with precision just by typing some formulas into a computer! But that begs the question – how on Earth did ancient engineers create some amazing technological and architectural wonders? For example, one of the most mysterious human-made objects can be found at an ancient temple in Delhi, India. It’s almost 24 feet tall and 99.5% pure iron. The strange thing about the pillar is that it hasn’t rusted over the last 16 centuries! Or have you ever heard about the Baghdad Battery? This thing conducted an electric current 2000 years before Alessandro Volta introduced to the world the first version of the modern battery we have today! Other videos you might like:

– How about an ancient Greek computer? The strange mechanism was made from 37 bronze gears, almost like an intricate clock. It was probably used as an astronomic, meteorological, and cartographic calculator of sorts back around 100 BCE.
– In 132 CE, Chinese scientist and inventor Zhang Heng introduced the first seismoscope that could predict an earthquake with the accuracy of modern instruments. – In 1908, an Italian expedition in the southern part of Crete excavated a palace near the ancient city of Phaistos. That’s where archaeologist Luigi Pernier found the mysterious clay disk. – The Rock Ship of Masuda is just one of many unexplained stone structures you can see in the village of Asuka, Japan. They date back to 250-550 CE, but who built them and how or why they did is still beyond anyone who’s studied the site. – In 1936, Egyptologist Walter Bryan Emery found a strange-looking disk as he was studying the burial chamber of a Pharaoh’s son and city official named Sabu. The disk is a round plate made of stone with several unusual blades and a cavity in the center. It’s about 2 feet in diameter and kinda resembles a large steering wheel. – The Nimrud lens was found in 1853 during an excavation in Nimrud, one of the ancient capitals of Assyria. Also known as the Layard Lens after the archeologist who discovered it, Austen Henry Layard, this thing was created between 750 and 710 BCE. What If We Used 100% of Our Brain

Your brain is an amazing thing. It’s the body’s control system. It tells the body what to do, right down to telling your heart to keep beating…but guess what? We don’t even use our whole brain! Scientists – especially neurologists, love talking about brain function. Strangely enough, so does Hollywood; the question of how much of our brain we use is a popular theme in movies and TV shows too. So, our brain does a whole lot for us, but what would happen if we used our entire brain capacity? By the way, how much of our brains do we actually use? And no, it’s not the popular “10% myth”. That was debunked by numerous studies. The “10% myth” has been given way too much credit in films and other media, so most people started believing it was true. Other videos you might like:

What if we used 100% of these functions 100% of the time? 5:03 Do our bodies are too weak for that?! 🤔 5:38
What our learning capacity is limited by (spoiler: it's not our brain!) 7:24 #humanbrain #humanbody #brightside SUMMARY:
– It turns out that most of our brain is active most of the time, but not all parts may be working 100% at the same time. Even dreaming takes a lot of brain activity. The exact percentage we’re using is different from person to person too.
– There are three main large parts: the cerebrum, cerebellum, and the brain stem. – Your brain can store all the information we gather by using our five senses – sight, smell, touch, tasting, and hearing.
– Most of the higher functions, like those concerning emotions and processing what your five senses pick up, take place in the cerebrum.
– The cerebellum handles our larger coordination skills so that we can walk, sit, stand, adjust our posture, and balance.
– The brain stem is at the base of the brain, and attached to our spinal cord; without it, we couldn’t move at all! – Using all of your brain at the same time would require just about all of the blood circulation you have, which would rob other organs of what they need. – Running a brain that’s using 100% capacity would be so powerful that it would require all the energy we’ve got; we would need constant fuel. – We’ve evolved to the exact point that we’re supposed to be: where body and brain are balanced. – Our learning capacity is limited more by things like attention span, getting poor sleep, and whether we met certain age milestones, or for me, whether I lose my marbles entirely, or just one at a time!
– You might love the smell of oranges, lemons, and grapefruit, but ants just can’t stand it! Use this knowledge to your advantage.
– Similar to citrus fruits, cucumbers smell like trouble to ants. Apparently, there’s something in their chemical composition that eliminates the fungi that ants love a lot.
– If you have ants in your kitchen and bathroom, you can repel them using peppermint essential oil. Sprinkle cotton balls with a few drops and leave them in areas where the ants hang out.
– If you mix cinnamon oil with water in a spray bottle and sprinkle it on ant trails, windows, doors and cracks, it’ll have an even stronger effect. – Before you throw away used coffee grounds after you enjoy a hot cup, remember they can, in fact, be of good use to you. Put them right in the cracks, sprinkle them around the flower bed, or even the entire base of your house.
– Tansy flowers might look cute to you but not to the ants! Plant it near your front door, under full or indirect sun and in pretty dry soil, or among other plants you want to protect from ants. – Food grade diatomaceous earth is a fine silica powder of fossilized algae. It’s perfectly safe for humans, but dangerous for insects. – No ant shall pass a border made of chalk, since they can’t walk across powdery materials.
– Ants love sugar but can’t stand baking soda. The smell of sugar will attract them, and baking soda will say “hi” to their digestive system, and the results are pretty dramatic for them. – Cornmeal isn’t the quickest way to ruin an ant colony, but it’s completely harmless to humans and super cheap, so you might want to give it a go. – Make a thin paste of powdered Borax laundry booster, sugar and water in equal parts. Put a few tablespoons of it on a jar lid and set the bait. This solution attracts all possible kinds of ants with its sugary smell. – Another ant secret they don’t want you to know is that they just hate hot water. Yes, something as simple as that makes them tremble with fear.
– Most ants just go for the food, but some love plants, both potted and planted ones. To prevent them from building a home in what’s adding aesthetics to your own home, try setting up a moat filled with water, much like people did in ancient times building fortresses.
