My Puppy Got Lost But It Made Me a Different Person

Hey guys! Today, we'd like to share with you a story of our friend Dennis. As he says himself, it doesn't show him at his best. But in his defense, it was something that changed him forever and, fortunately, made him a better person! Btw, do you have a pet? Because that's exactly what we're gonna talk about. So, Dennis was an 11-year-old kid and pretty typical for his age. Liked to get a bit too carried away, didn’t quite understand the consequences of his actions. One day he got a puppy. And this is where it started. Other videos you might like:

What changed Dennis forever 6:51 #dogs #touchingstories #brightside SUMMARY:
– My best friend’s name was Mikey, and one summer day, he came over to my house and said that his parents had agreed to get him a dog! – Well, then Mikey got his puppy a few days later and invited me over to meet the little guy. My heart was stolen, and I wanted one for myself too! – I talked my mother into getting me a puppy. So, not long after that, we found a tiny Yorkie, and I called her Neeka. We’d already gotten her lots of toys, a bed, and everything she’d need once we brought her home. – During the next couple months, I spent all my time with Neeka. She seemed like the best puppy in the world.
– But much to my dismay, it wasn't all about fun playtime. I tried to keep my word about training Neeka, but it was the hardest thing I'd ever done in my whole life!
– I remember taking Neeka for a walk to the park near our house. While she was sniffing around and doing her business, I ran into my classmate Jake. He was on a brand-new shiny bicycle.
– With just a few seconds of riding around, I was in love. Just like that day I met Mikey’s new pup, this bike became my new life goal. – Everything played out according to my plan: I got the very bicycle I'd been dreaming about: big, fast, and with all the latest gizmos and upgrades. – To tell you the truth, I really was spending much more time with my bike than with my pooch. – I got carried away arguing with my friends about the benefits of the latest bicycle model when it started raining. They all headed home, and I started calling to Neeka… But she was nowhere to be seen. – That night, I didn't get much sleep. I just lay there in my bed staring up at the ceiling with tears rolling down the sides of my head, soaking my pillow through. – I realized what responsibility meant and had to admit that I’d failed my first super important life lesson…
– When morning came, there was a knock at our front door. In a minute, my mom called out my name. When I came rushing, the first thing I saw was a woman I didn't recognize with… a dirty, shaking, but alive Neeka in her arms! – I now know that getting a dog isn’t just about learning responsibility. You’re also getting a friend who will love you unconditionally and deserves only the best! Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

9 Things Children See Differently Than Adults Do

Kids are amazing. Their vivid imagination and creativity multiplied by their seemingly endless energy resource are things that rarely get carried on to adulthood. Kids don’t have enough experience and knowledge to understand how this world operates, which is why they see things in a different light. It has been proven that a child’s worldview settles by the time they turn 11 years old, and they become capable of evaluating the world as an adult, solve problems and even make plans for future. Before this age, children perceive the world differently than adults do. Scientists have found out that kids perceive the world differently than adults do. And here’s how exactly! Their imagination borders with reality 0:28
They don’t know what “abstract” means 1:39
At first they can’t recognize their parents 2:57
They learn languages lightning fast 3:46
What they know is more important than what they see 5:01
They think everyone knows what they know 6:20
If they don’t see it, it doesn’t exist 7:39
They don’t know things can be reversed 8:28
Their understanding of morals differs from ours 9:22 #kids #children #brightside SUMMARY:
– Numerous experiments have shown that little kids easily believe in supernatural things. But they’re not so naïve as you may think! For example, at as early as the age of 3, they already know when other people really do something from when they pretend and can tell an imaginary thing from a real one.
– Scientists distinguish two stages of development: the one before you turn 11 and the one after. The difference between them is that kids under 11 years old still can’t think in an abstract manner, while those older than 11 already can.
– In addition to seeing the world differently in their mind’s eye, kids quite literally have altered vision. Well, not really kids but newborn babies. When they first open their eyes, everything around them is unfocused and blurred, and they can’t distinguish the faces in front of them.
– There’s a certain device in the children’s brain that allows them to learn new languages much faster than adults. He calls it “language acquisition device,” or LAD.
– Until a certain age, children don’t realize that not everyone thinks the same way as they do and know things they know.
– Children under the age of one are unable to realize that something they don’t see still exists. In fact, when they stop seeing an object, for them it disappears forever.
– If something’s done, it can’t be undone. That’s how little kids think, and it concerns virtually everything. If you show a three-year-old that a shoelace can be tied, they’ll think it’s tied forever and may well start crying when they can’t get the shoe off.
– Moral judgment is not something kids have the innate ability to understand. They learn morals from experience, and while they’re still very small, they don’t know such a thing even exists. Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

A Photographer Shows Differences Between North and South Korea

In 1945, Korea was divided into South Korea and North Korea. Despite the fact that communist North Korea and democratic South Korea are neighbors, the life in these 2 countries is totally different. Photographer Ed Jones decided to capture it and show to the rest of the world. In the photos you can see that clothes, interiors, and environments are more modern in South Korea. But the soul of these people is definitely the same. Other videos you might like:

Squat Pulses 3:59
Elevated Calf Raises 4:45
Lunge Jumps 5:38
Step Ups 6:34
Single Leg Bridge 7:33 #legday #stronglegs #brightside SUMMARY:
– When doing walking lunges, the muscles in the front of your leg work the most since they have to move your whole body up and forward. This not only strengthens all the leg muscles but also improves your balance and stability. – Squats work your calves, hamstrings, and quadriceps, but they're also pretty effective for building up your abs and strengthening your lower back and glutes. Besides, they’re a great way to burn tons of calories really fast, maintain your heart health, and improve your lung capacity.
– Squat jumps help tone your calves, quads, and hammies as well as your glutes and core muscles. It’s also cool in that it involves the arms a little more than traditional squats and definitely a lot more cardio!
– Split squats is a great lower-body exercise since squatting deeply with just one leg really targets the stabilizer muscles and, as a bonus, improves your balance! – When you do squat the pulses, you constantly engage and stimulate your leg muscles. Plus, you can hold the movement longer and tire your muscles in a different way than when you do just a standard squat. – Elevated calf raises will have your calves looking bigger, stronger, and more defined. Plus, it increases your ankle strength, so you won’t be as prone to spraining or twisting them.
– Lunge jumps develop your lower body strength and endurance by targeting the quadriceps, hamstrings, calves, glutes, and hip flexors. Besides, it's a perfect cardio exercise, and it stabilizes your core, improves your coordination, and builds ankle stability. – Step ups work pretty much every muscle in your legs as well as your glutes for an added bonus! – The single leg bridge is a great exercise to work all three glute muscles, train your hamstrings, and strengthen your lower back. If it seems too easy for you, do this exercise with a barbell or dumbbell lying securely across your hipbones. Everyone Uses Escalators Wrong All the Time

Every morning thousands of people feel as if they're trying to accomplish a particularly tricky quest. Wrestle out of the packed subway car – done. Avoid getting lost and carried away by the crowd – done. Reach the escalator and join the gridlock at the entrance – done. At least all the commuters are following the common escalator rule: stand on the right side, walk on the left. After all, it's the most effective way to use an escalator, right? Actually, it’s wrong! Wait, what? But this practice makes perfect sense: you can always choose whether you want to relax and let the machinery do all the work or save time and walk up! Yep, it turns out that we've been using escalators inefficiently all this time. Other videos you might like:

Why people should stand on escalators side by side 4:43
Please, stay out of my personal space! 5:15
What the supporters of the "everybody-walks" idea say 6:21 #brightside #etiquette #subway SUMMARY:
– A 2011 study from the University of Greenwich figured out that while 75% of people choose to stand on escalators, only 25% walk up.
– In 2015, the London Underground started a three-week trial of a revolutionary approach to using escalators. – Employees of Transport for London asked commuters not to walk on the escalators. – During the morning rush hour between 08:30 to 09:30, the average escalator used to transport about 12,750 people. But during the trial period of standing rules, the same escalator moved 16,220 people!
– People kept pushing each other, shouting, and arguing. It seems that the problem lies in human nature: we want the result right away and are unwilling to postpone it in the interest of the greater good. – Interestingly, people didn't feel all that indignant about the new rule on longer escalators. On such escalators, commuters already preferred to stand on the walking side rather than move. – It took a commuter 26 seconds to walk to the top of the moving escalator and 40 seconds to get there while standing still. – When most commuters stand on the right (or on the left, depending on the country), the weight on the stairs gets distributed unevenly. As a result, one side of the escalator experiences a much greater strain than the other.
– The average American likes to have at least 1 and 1/2 ft (0.45 m) of personal space separating them from other people. Naturally, when you stand on an escalator, this distance is much smaller. It makes people feel uncomfortable.
– But there are also a lot of experts who are sure that walking on escalators is still a much safer and better way to get to your goal. – The supporters of the "everybody-walks" idea also say that if nobody was standing on the stairs and everybody was moving, there would be no gridlocks at all. Well, although reasonable, this advice doesn't sound like fun when you're returning from the airport with a heavy suitcase. That’s How Internet Advertisers Read Your Mind

Isn’t it annoying how targeted ads haunt you wherever you go and whatever you do? You filter them in your mind, not paying attention to what they say, but sometimes they can really give you the creeps. Advertisers follow you everywhere. Literally. For example, if you pass by, say, a bank, you’ll most likely soon get a targeted ad of this same bank and probably even with this same address. Advertisers may use geo tags to target you. These tags are basically points on the map, and when you happen to be within a certain distance from one of these points, you start getting specific ads. Let’s say you like to run in a certain park, and there’s a new apartment building somewhere nearby. Most likely you’ll start receiving ads urging you to buy an apartment by that exact address. – Companies install special Wi-Fi routers in their offices that have a wider range of operation. When you go about your business, your phone is busy too: it’s constantly scanning the networks around it, sending signals to every possible connection point. – The good thing here is that only larger companies can afford such a method of targeting — the cost of equipment along with the price tag on the ad itself is too high for smaller businesses. – On a broader scale, advertisers may use geo tags to target you. These tags are basically points on the map, and when you happen to be within a certain distance from one of these points, you start getting specific ads.
– Apps often collect your offline data and send it to advertisers. The best example I can think of is a fitness tracker. You allow this device or app access to your phone, and it begins doing its job immediately. – When an app you’ve given permissions to sends your info to advertisers, it’s matched with the offers they can throw at you and you in particular. – Social media apps require access to many of your phone’s functions, including your microphone. But by giving this permission, you automatically let it listen to you even when you don’t intend to record anything.
– Social media apps have verbal triggers, or voice commands, that activate them to record you and then send the things you say to advertisers.
– This collection of data is more or less innocent. The only third parties receiving your info are advertisers, and there’s nothing too personal in there. The things you say are anonymized, which means they can’t be traced back to you. – There are ways to protect yourself if you don’t want ads to go barging into your personal space. Most important of them all is a VPN, or virtual private network. It’s a perfectly legal means to hide your presence in the web and prevent others from snooping around in your private business online. – Also, if you want to turn ads off completely, there’s legal ad blocking software and browser extensions as well. Most important of them all is a VPN, or virtual private network. It’s a perfectly legal means to hide your presence in the web and prevent others from snooping around in your private business online. – Also, if you want to turn ads off completely, there’s legal ad blocking software and browser extensions as well. 50 Great Inventions from Each of the US States

The United States of America. The land of the free, Home of the brave — inventors! Did you know, for instance, that sound-cinema was not invented in, say, California, but in Arkansas? Coca Cola comes from Georgia, and the AC – from Florida (and that makes perfect sense), and ice cream cones were first made in Missouri. Other videos you might like:
