6 Times Science Proved It Can’t Be Boring

I’ve never understood that some people think that science is as boring as watching paint dry. Even if scientists literally watched paint dry, it would probably be part of some fascinating experiment, aimed at the betterment of all humanity, or at least the betterment of some paint. There are a lot of scientific endeavors that take an immense amount of time, but produce the most amazing results! And here are some of the oddest among them. Elusive pitch drops, alarm bell that just won't stop, an experiment that is supposed to go on for 500 years – these are truly shocking! Other videos you might like:

-Since ancient time, astronomers have discovered that sunspots have a direct impact on the Earth’s climate. For example, there was a period called Medieval Maximum, from 1100 to 1250, when a lot of sunspots were observed, and which coincides with a period of warmer climate called the Medieval Warm Period. -There is an alarm placed right in the foyer of Clarendon Laboratory at the University of Oxford that has been ringing since 1840.
-There is a clock at the University of Otago, in New Zealand, that hasn’t been wound since it was made in 1864 by Arthur Beverly and has almost never stopped to this day. -A funnel was filled in 1927 with a highly dense pitch known to us as tar or asphalt. When the pitch settled down in 1930, its bottom was opened by Professor Thomas Parnell. It took, on average, 8 years for the first 7 drops to fall. -Charles Cockell from the University of Edinburgh decided to find out how long can dried bacteria survive. In 2014 his ambitious experiment began, and it is supposed to end in 2514. -In 2016, 12 populations of bacteria named E. coli reached the point of 66,000 generations. All these generations of E. coli are needed to track little evolutionary changes in them and to watch the evolution itself in miniature. Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

The Main Reason Why Police Wear Blue

There’s no short supply of nicknames we have for those who’ve dedicated their lives to upholding the law. No matter which nickname you use, it’s likely you have a strong image in your mind of what a law enforcement officer looks like. Shiny metal badge, fully stocked duty belt, and, of course, the unmistakable blue uniform. It’s iconic. And like anything so well known, there are reasons it came to be that way. Let’s look at how police officers became known as “the men and women in blue”. Other videos you might like:

Menlo Park continued to dress their police officers like this for 9 years before finally concluding that wearing the same uniform as a local real estate agent didn’t exactly command the respect they were hoping for. -There have been countless psychological tests on how people associate colors with feeling and mood. #1. The American National Anthem isn’t an original American tune. 10:21 #Americanmyths #factsaboutAmerica #brightside Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY:
-Filmmakers hyped cowboys and bandits of the 19th century, making shootouts and robberies the stuff of legend. In truth, though, the era of the Wild West was more about cooperation than conflict.
-In fact, the tribal leader and Pocahontas’ father, Powhatan, invited Smith for a meal to talk business. Pocahontas was there too, and they did become friends with the Captain… but none of it included saving lives. -The approval vote on the Declaration of Independence of the United Colonies took place two days prior to July 4, 1776.
-The whole cherry tree story was a piece of fiction written by George Washington’s biographer Mason Locke Weems in 1806. -Mickey was born in Walt’s head, but the actual drawing of the character belonged to Ub Iwerks, his favorite cartoonist. -Warren de la Rue, a British scientist, got a patent for his light bulb design 40 years before Edison. -Columbus wasn’t the first European to travel to the New World. This title belongs to Leif Erikson, who set foot on North American soil way back in the 11th century.
-Cowboys, or, more accurately, cattle hands, were mostly illiterate men who did dirty jobs in equally dirty rags and simply couldn't afford hats. -In fact, Manhattan was purchased for 60 guilders, which is about $1,000 today. -When Einstein himself was told this story in 1935, he just laughed and said he’d mastered differential and integral calculus before he was 15.
-8 years before Charles Lindbergh, in 1919, two British pilots John Alcock and Arthur Brown did the same, having flown from Newfoundland to Ireland in about 15 hours.
-The words to the “Star Spangled Banner” were indeed written by American poet Francis Scott Key. But the tune for the song representing this “country of immigrants” was itself also an immigrant. Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

Some Found an Underwater City Under the Bermuda Triangle

Learning mysteries and conspiracy theory stories can be a lot of fun. The only thing that’s even more fun, is checking the facts and trying to debunk them. And what else has more crazy theories swirling around it than the Bermuda Triangle? Can you guess which ones are true and which are fake? There are a lot of questions to answer. For example, can ocean whirlpools be guilty of all the disappearances happening in the Bermuda Triangle? What lurks in the depth of Blue Holes? Was there a city on the bottom of the Bermuda Triangle? However, the whirlpools mostly appear in the inland Blue Holes, situated on the Island and not in the ocean. Even if a vortex could sink a small boat, it wouldn’t likely be an issue for big ships, let alone airplanes – they’re far above that in every possible meaning. -The local people of Andros Island, part of the Bahamas, have a legend in their folklore about a giant, vile octopus-like creature named Lusca. Some giant octopuses were seen, and even caught, nearby, though they weren’t nearly as big as the legendary creature. -The only giant things here are overstatements. There certainly aren’t any glass pyramids. Research showed that underlying ground layers beneath the Bimini Road feature nothing but bedrock, with no possible cavities in it. -One of these treasure hunters was lucky enough to come across a secret map, made from the orbit of the planet in the 60s, during one of the first flights into outer space. This map reveals lots of shipwreck coordinates in the Caribbean area. One of them wasn’t marked as a shipwreck, but as an “unidentified object”. -A lot of Bermuda Triangle stories feature reports, allegedly received from missing aircraft and ships. Some enthusiasts of this theory draw a line between it and the experimentations of Joseph Hutchison, who was trying to prove that electromagnetic fields can collide with each other and produce all kinds of disturbances to reality itself. 8 Super Effective Exercises for Broad Shoulders

What can be “manlier” than broad and powerful shoulders? Other than being thoughtful, charming and witty, you ask? Well, personality aside, if you’re aiming at a strong and masculine look, your arms and shoulders are the thing to start from. Even if you don’t pay that much attention to the rest of your body, broad shoulders will give you that much desired V-shape, making you look bigger – in a good way, of course. So let’s have a look at what you can do! Dumbbell shoulder press is aimed at the front and middle parts of your shoulder muscles. Side lateral raise will target mainly the middle section of your shoulders, which helps them look rounded. Seated dumbbell clean is an explosive strength exercise that will give your front sections a nice shock. Pike press looks a bit strange but it’s great for the front and middle sections of your shoulders as well as your upper back as an added benefit. Other videos you might like:

A couple of things to remember 8:32 Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY:
-Sit on a bench and press your back against the back support. Take a dumbbell with each hand and raise your hands to shoulder height, your palms facing forward. Now exhale and push your arms up, straightening them and letting the dumbbells meet above your head. Hold them up for a second, inhale, and slowly return to the initial position.
-Stand straight with a dumbbell in either hand and with your feet shoulder width apart. Your arms should hang along your body with your palms facing your torso. Exhale and slowly raise your arms to the sides until they’re level with your shoulders. -Sit down on the end of a bench and bend over, almost touching your chest to your knees. Grip your trusty dumbbells, put your legs together, keep your back straight and your palms facing your calves. Now slightly bend your elbows, exhale, and raise your arms to the sides until they’re parallel to the floor. -Stand up straight, holding a dumbbell in either hand. Hang your arms straight along your body, with your palms facing the torso. Plant your feet firmly on the ground, shoulder width apart. Now exhale and, keeping your torso stationary, raise your arms to the sides.
-Seat on the end of a bench, planting your feet firmly on the floor about shoulder width apart. Grab the dumbbells with your palms facing backwards. Lean forward, keeping your back straight, and then burst upwards, straightening yourself and raising the dumbbells to the shoulder level in a swift motion. -Sit on a bench and place your palms on its edge, gripping it with your fingers on either side of your body. Plant your legs firmly on the floor, or even better, if you have an elevated object not quite as high as the bench you’re sitting on, place your feet on it. -Get into a regular push-up position with your arms straight, palms right beneath the shoulders, and your legs straight too, propped on the toes. Push your hips up so that your whole body now makes a reversed V-shape. Now lower your body in a dive-like motion, keeping your legs straight and only bending your elbows.
-Grab the dumbbells and stand up straight with your feet hip width apart and your arms straight along your body. Don’t bend your elbows, just let them hang. Now, without any extra movements raise your shoulders as high up as you can, hold on for a second, and lower them back. -Don’t forget to do a warm-up before a workout and cool down exercises after working out. Don’t be too hard on yourself — let your shoulders rest between training sessions. Three times a week should be enough for the optimal regimen. Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

You Stir the Sugar In a Wrong Way All Your Life

I bet you’re all well-mannered people. But do you always follow the rules of etiquette in the right way? It’s not only members of the Royal family that have to watch themselves in public. For instance, it's actually rather rude to say "Bless you" to a person who just sneezed at a business meeting. The same goes for covering your face with your right hand as you sneeze or cough. When you're stirring sugar in your tea, move the spoon but back and forth, like a small pendulum, instead of a circular motion. Here’s a short list of etiquette rules that you might be breaking every day and not even notice. Other videos you might like:

-If you’re on a business meeting and somebody suddenly sneezes, it’s better not to say “Bless you!”, but to pretend as if you noticed nothing. -When you cover your mouth with your right hand while coughing, it gets covered in germs which later happily move to people who come into contact with you. -You should keep a towel with you to wipe up your sweat. It'd also be good etiquette to re-set weight machines at lower settings when you're finished using them.
-Say the person's first name or Doctor, if appropriate, and introduce everybody present, starting from the highest rank to the lowest one.
-Remember to always enter your seat from the right side and never shake someone's hand while seated. You should be passing food around the table in a counterclockwise direction, or to the right. Don’t put the soup spoon on a tablecloth or napkin. -While traveling to South Korea, be aware of their respect towards the elder people. When one of your elders offers you a drink, the proper etiquette is to receive it with both hands, and then turn your head away as you take your first sip. -If you’re traveling to Greece, Turkey, Montenegro or Egypt, to name a few, please note that the plumbing may not be designed for flushing toilet paper.
-While in, let’s say, Italy, it’s normal to wave your hands back and forth while speaking, but be more careful with gestures in the Middle East. -Turn down the volume: for the majority of European countries, it’s more common for people to use their library voice. -In some countries, like France, for instance, hugging can be considered more intimate than kissing. -In Italy, while it’s still generally considered polite to let a woman to go through the door first, that rule goes away when entering a restaurant.
