I just missed out on a 60% bounce. Insert curse word here! This is my frustrated, guilty video lesson all about it. My hope? By watching this, I can help you do better. So it’s out there: I didn’t totally fall on my face. I did make a profit … but I missed the big bounce. Why am I telling you this? Because I want to be totally transparent. That’s why every trade I make is public. I want to share the good and the bad. I also want you to know that this happens to everyone. Dip buys aren’t an exact science. And in the case of ALPP, I made the classic mistake of trying to force the trade too fast. The pattern actually played out like I thought, but I fell for the fakeouts. I tried to force it, and I psyched myself out. There was a more than 60% bounce from the lows … but I made paltry profits. It happens to all traders at some point. No one wins all the time. The real value is in learning from your experience. In this video, I’ll go through a full critique of my behavior in this trade. I’ll show you how and where I went wrong. (Hint: I didn’t read between the lines and I got impatient.) No, this isn’t about perfection. It’s about trying to capture as much of the move as possible. You don’t have to hold on to extremes, but you need to have enough patience to wait for the right opportunities. It’s a balance. And not always an easy one. Remember: trading is a mental game. Stocks don’t always bounce when you want them to. But then again, holding and hoping is NOT a strategy. That can really work against you, and you can blow up your account fast. Yes, let yourself be human. Make mistakes. But go back and review every trade. Evaluate what you did right and what you got wrong. Constantly refining your methods can help you become more consistent in your trades. I’m proud of my many students who dip bought better than me and who shorted … and I’m encouraged and inspired to do better. Even after 20 years of trading, I still gotta work for it. My students don’t trade with huge accounts … so how would they learn from me if I did? I show all my trades — every single one. I teach with a small account because I use my trading as a teaching tool. I’m not jealous of traders who make more. I’ve made $200K in one day! Yeah, that was great, but that’s not realistic for my students… I teach a niche strategy for penny stocks, which are inherently risky. You don’t NEED to go big. I’m not telling you this because I’m scared that you’ll surpass me in profits. I’m doing it to help you stay safe. Honestly … I don’t know what more I can do to help you attain your dreams. I’m living the life I want. Right now, I’m in Beverly Hills. Soon, I’ll be in Bali, Israel, Turkey, Japan … I’m all over the place, doing charity work, and teaching my students… This is the life I want to live. This is what freedom means to me. They look at other traders’ alerts and make trades based on that alone. They don’t make their own decisions. And they don’t know how to think for themselves. Listen, I get it. My top student, Tim Grittani, has made $8 million. You want to be like him. Who doesn’t? (Tim’s results are far from typical. He’s dedicated time to build his trading knowledge and hone exceptional skills. Most traders lose money. Always remember trading is risky, and never risk more than you can afford.) But here’s the thing. You can’t just copy his trades and hope to be successful. It doesn’t work that way. Instead of looking for hot picks from traders like me and Grittani, ask yourself this: what can you learn to become your own self-sufficient trader and best self? Are you following so-called gurus with fake testimonials and screenshots of their trades? NOT GOOD ENOUGH. These newbie teachers aren’t always bad people, but they just don’t know enough. I’ve been trading for more than two decades, and I know that you have to be very careful in this industry. Don’t learn the wrong way! Take the time to learn the rules and how the market works. This might sound obvious, but there are a ton of new traders who can’t accept that. They want to get rich NOW. And this mentality can hold them back from their true potential. My student Tim Grittani is the perfect example. He started out with just $1,500 in his account. He slowly grew it by keeping diligent notes about his trades, reviewing, and refining his methods. Now he’s up to over $8 million in trading profits. His millions didn’t happen overnight. He works hard for his success. He’s dedicated. And he’s scaled up his positions over time. You’ve got to wait for trades … you can’t try to force the perfect setup. When I say this to my students, they say they understand. They say they believe me. But then they say, “Hey, I’m taking next Tuesday off of work to trade … what should I trade?” They just don’t get it. You’ve got to wait for the trades to come to you … the stock market won’t fit itself into your schedule. Are you looking for your favorite setups? Then keep looking for them. Don’t have favorite setups? STUDY MORE and find them. Studying isn’t fun. It’s boring. It’s not supposed to be exciting. And it has to be a big part of your goals and a means to an end. It’s absolutely essential if you want to be a self-sufficient trader. Trading is you versus you. Are you mentally ready to take advantage of the opportunities? Or are you pointing the finger at everyone and everything else around you for your bad trades? Are you blaming stock manipulations or short squeezes for your failures? Guess what? You can blame whomever or whatever you like. End of day, it’s all on you. Failing again and again can make anyone feel discouraged. But it’s also an opportunity to learn. So make the decision to invest in yourself first. Invest in your knowledge account. Every trader experiences losses. Today, Grittani shares how his early losses made him feel out of control. They messed with his head. And he’s had some big ones. His last big loss was $105K … and no matter how rich you are, that hurts. That pain was a big motivator. A six-figure loss made him size down and fix his unsustainable habits. Personally, I had a $500K loss, and you’d better believe that hurts. Even if you still have money, you feel like the world has ended. It’s humiliating, and you feel powerless. Yep, I do a ton of while I’m just lounging around. I LOVE the flexibility of being able to trade whenever and wherever I want. For me, trading is all about freedom. I’m free to pursue the life I want. I have the ability to give back through my charities. Right now I’m in Australia, where I’m working with Save the Reef. That’s why it’s dark right now –– in Australia, the U.S. markets open at night. As I lounge in my hotel bed, I want to ask you this … How can you tell if a stock is healthy? Here’s the method that’s served me best: expect the worst. Look at these stocks like they’re all failures and scams, and there’s no way they’re gonna survive. Sure, maybe you’ll be pleasantly surprised occasionally, but most of the time you won’t be. In the market, you’ve gotta be realistic. In spite of what you might think, it’s not all about the sector or the profit margins … and you should never drink the Kool-Aid and start believing in the product or the technology. So what SHOULD you look for to tell if a stock is healthy? Check out the video to learn what I look for to determine a stock’s health — what to look for in earnings reports, how to find the trend, and how to look to the future. Remember: Stocks are priced based on forward expectations … so even companies in debt can run. I’ll also tell you what will make me step out of my comfort zone to buy a big stock like Facebook… And you need to know these tricks that companies use to mislead you about their value or the health of their stock. What does it mean when insiders — usually company execs — buy or sell shares of their company stock? It’s worth taking the time to see what company insiders are doing with their shares. In theory, the company insiders probably know something you don’t. And what they know could be making them feel really pessimistic or optimistic about their stake in the company. So if you follow that logic … if insiders are buying, you should too … And if they’re selling, you should stay away… But that’s not necessarily the case. When it comes to insider trading, things aren’t always what they seem. So you need to educate yourself.
