"Crude prices this week are dependent on external factors, led specifically by stock markets and bond markets," said Peter Cardillo , chief market economist at Spartan Capital in NY. "To the extent that it appears we're not immediately headed for a recession, oil prices suddenly look cheap." Analysts said reports of an attack on a Saudi oil field by Yemen's Houthi rebels was also lifting crude prices due to the supply risks it presented."
