One of the most important parts of trading is preparation … preparing a watchlist and preparing to make trades. If you don't have a plan, you risk making mistakes and losing money. How you prepare for the trading day depends on what your strategies are. For Michael Goode, the most important time of day is in the pre-market hours. Roland prefers to prepare as soon as the market closes. Your preparation depends on what kind of trades you’ll make. For some strategies, you can't plan it all before the market opens. But you should certainly plan it BEFORE you make the trade. And it’ll be different depending on what strategy you're using. So how do you prepare a watchlist? First, look for stocks that spark your interest. Look at the prior day and night. Go through the charts for what’s moving. Run scans. Compile a list of tickers that you’d like to trade. Find your risk/reward. Find your levels and chart them. Check out the support and resistance. Decide where to enter, and if it goes against you, where you can cover. Read through the news. Try to figure out why a stock is behaving a certain way. And also check out the float. If you want to buy a stock, you want to buy a stock with a low float. Take a look at the SEC filings to make sure there are no outstanding registration statements where they have convertible warrants or some extra shares. Don’t be fooled by delusion. Write down your plan. It can make all the difference! Then set up what you actually plan to do in that trade. How do you create your watchlists? How often do you need to edit and revise your plan? Leave a comment below and let me know … —————————————————————————————————————-
